Frequently asked questions

Why can I only have 3 beers?
In the state of Montana, breweries are only permitted to serve each guest 48oz of beer per day.
Do you sell other beer/wine/liquor or non alcoholic beer?
We only sell MAP beers in the tasting room. We do not have a wine, or liquor license, so we are not permitted to sell any other alcohol besides the beer we make in the brewery. We do not offer any non alcoholic beer options but we do have a variety on non alcoholic soft drinks, kombuchas, sparkling water and more.
Are you dog friendly?
No dogs allowed. As much as we love our furry friends, dogs are NOT permitted inside the brewery or out on the patio, with the exception of ADA certified service animals (credentials required).
Are you hiring?
To be considered for hire at MAP, please stop by the taproom with your resume and ask to speak with a manager.
Do you offer food out on the patio?
Our patio is an open seating, self service, beer garden. We have a limited "patio snacks" menu for food out on the patio. All food and beer must be ordered at the bar inside.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I only have 48oz of beer?
Per Montana state law, our brewery license only allows us to serve 48oz (which equals 3 pints) of beer per person per day.
Do you sell other beer/wine/liquor/cider or non alcoholic beer?
Also per Montana state law, our brewery license only allows us to serve MAP beers brewed on our premises, so we cannot serve any cider, liquor, wine, or beer from other breweries. We do not currently brew any non alcoholic beer, but we do have a variety of non-alcoholic soft drinks, sparkling waters, and more.
Do you offer food on the patio?
Our patio is an open seating, order-at-the-bar beer garden.  Due to our small kitchen, we have a limited "patio snacks" menu for food on the patio.  All food and beer for the patio is ordered at the bar inside.
Can I make a reservation?
We do not take reservations at MAP. We use an online waitlist system to facilitate seating. Add yourself to our waitlist here, or call the taproom at (406) 587-4070 to speak with a host about seating.
I'm coming in with a large group, what should I do?
Please call ahead for all groups of 8 or more. If you come in with a large group without calling ahead, your wait time will be dramatically increased as we won't be able to plan ahead for your group. We do not split checks for groups of 8 or more, and an automatic gratuity of 18% will be added to the bill.
Are you open on holidays?
MAP is open from 12:00-8:00pm 7 days a week with the exception of: Super Bowl Sunday, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and we close early on Christmas Eve. Occasionally we close for various taproom upkeep projects or employee parties. Follow us on Instagram for updates on closures.
Do you make gluten-free beer?
MAP does not make gluten-free beer, but we do offer a limited number of gluten-reduced  beers. Please ask your server or bartender for an updated list of gluten-reduced beers. Please keep in mind that there may be trace amounts of gluten in our gluten-reduced beers.
How do I book an event or play live music at MAP?
To inquire about playing music, or planning an event at MAP, please email tucker@mapbrewing.com. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate any requests for events or live music. We no longer rent out our space for private events (wedding parties, birthday parties, retirement parties, etc.)
Can you ship beer?
Unfortunately, no.
Where can I buy your beer?
MAP is a self-distributing brewery with a small but very mighty team that ensures restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores and bars throughout Gallatin, Madison, and Park Counties are fully stocked!  Unfortunately we do not sell our beer outside of the state of Montana and for the time being are limited to the counties listed above!
Is your patio open year-round?
Our patio is typically open from May 1st - Oct 1st. These dates are completely weather dependent. Once we close the patio for the year, all tables and chairs will be removed and food will no longer be allowed on the patio. If you're feeling brave and want to stand out there, more power to you. We can't guarantee that the patio will always have the snow cleared off in the winter.
Does MAP stand for anything, and how long have you been open?
MAP does not stand for anything in particular, but we love hearing people's thoughts on what it could stand for. MAP opened Oct 25th, 2015, and we've been slinging beers ever since.
I'd like to get your cans/kegs at my establishment, who do I contact?
If you'd like to sell MAP beer at your establishment in either cans or kegs, please contact howie@mapbrewing.com.
